WE ARE VERY PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE HAVE QUITE A COUP FOR OUR JULY WINE DINNER !!
This will be a very special evening and it is fitting that our next dinner can both celebrate the return of the monthly dinner as well as showcase one of the real future talents of the Australian wine industry ; there really is a new generation coming through and as many of our Customers would know, Dave Franz is a truly remarkable winemaker and one that stands for so many of the good things within the industry, both in the way he makes and presents his wine, and his general attitude in a time where the “big guys” can dominate. He is also one of Peter Lehmann’s sons ( yet in typical fashion ‘ hides this ‘ to make his own statement ) yet winemaking is in his blood . We have attached an article on David by Max Allen from The Australian a couple of weeks ago for a bit more background!
We are very happy to have Dave at the July dinner, which will be held on Wednesday, the 12th of July (NOT Monday like in the past!), and will be held this time at The Little Blue restaurant at the end of St Kilda pier (Pier Road St Kilda; 9525 5545). The dinner will commence at 7.30pm sharp ; the change of venue has been obliged as Dave can only make this night.
On arrival, the dry Riesling will be served with canapés, followed by his brand new Brother’s Ilk Chardonnay (which has just been bottled and will be the first time it will have been shown anywhere) served with a fish entrée. Following this, Dave will showcase his Larrikin III – a multi blend, multi vintage red – accompanied by Little Blue’s signature slow cooked lamb shoulder. Finally, his very special VP Crazy Cab Shiraz Liqueur will be served with cheese. Please do note however that we can change any part of the menu and wines with notice i.e. if you only eat certain things we can cater for you…………..
The price for the evening will be $70 per head and as per previous dinners, all wine on the night will be kindly donated by Dave Franz who will also have wines for sale on the night at a very special price for the night .
